My birthday - too many numbers to count

I live in between Poole and Bournemouth in sunny Dorset, with my husband and our lovely children, Will and Rosie.  We moved here from Oxford and have bought a 1930s house in need of some TLC.  When I'm not busy with web design and marketing I enjoy relaxing with friends and family (ideally a long walk somewhere hilly!) and sketching or painting. 

My working lifeMy passion for the internet really began when I returned from teaching abroad in the mid 1990's and began working for a publisher's in the marketing department.  Before long I was responsible for championing the use of the internet within the company, and launching some thirty higher education subject catalogues online.  This rapidly developed to include supporting marketing material and downloadable sample chapters.  Right from the start I loved the ability of the internet to bring communities of people together, the immediacy of the medium and from a marketing perspective the measurability - you could tell what was working and what wasn't and do something about it to get a better response! 

My career in publishing spanned four years when I left to take up a new challenge as web content manager for a leading automotive retail group looking to set up an online car selling operation.  This was a fast paced retail environment and the first challenge was to get the website up and running in four months.  We did it.  My role developed with the company to include a broader marketing communications role, always with a strong focus on online marketing.

After maternity leave for my son ended, and spurred on by a move to a different part of the country, I decided to turn freelance and put my hands on skills into practice for small businesses and individuals looking for affordable web design and marketing solutions.  I love getting to grips with new businesses and feeling like I am making a difference.  I know that I have for the clients I have worked with and hope that I can do the same for you.
