Companion Website to Book

During my time spent at Addison Wesley Longman, as well as launching the first set of book catalogues online for the company in Europe, I also began setting up companion websites to support core titles.  These often served a joint purpose - to help promote the book, and as a supporting website for lecturers and students who owned the book.

A typical site consisted of sample chapters or extracts from the book, supporting material in downloadable format, and often some added value material not otherwise available in the book eg updates from the author, or, in the example given of The New British Politics website, an opinion poll which changed each month to explore topical political issues.

I would liaise with editors, marketing contacts and direct with the authors to develop and update the sites.
